Let me just say people in Brooklyn are one of a kind. This week I learned how to hold my own and I was tested beyond belief. This was by far the most high-volume center I had been to so far. The employees were a hoot and boy did they tell it like it is. But everyone treated me with respect, well almost everyone...I didn't say the clients; Forget-about-it! When I left the center it was the first time I breathed all week, and I left with a basket full of mini bottles of alcohol from the staff? Only in Brooklyn! Gotta Love it!

NYC bound

June 1st, 2010

No planes this week just a quick trip to Brooklyn, NY. I picked up my rental in my hometown and headed to the city early so I could relax at the hotel before meeting up with my ladies at the Yankee game. I know I was going through withdrawal with the Phillies not playing at home last week! Well let's just say I expected traffic, but nothing like what I encountered. My 45min drive turned into a 5 hour drive, 2 and a half hours were spent in PARK on the Beltway. So you can imagine the mood I was in when I finally met Kelly at the hotel. We drove to Yankee stadium, saw the Statue of Liberty on the way, and took the most round about way, but finally arrived, or so we thought. However, we found my favorite form of transportation; a rickshaw and conveniently hitched a ride. We met up with Amy and Clare and we released the stress with laughter, a couple of sailors, and a few beers at the Hard Rock Cafe after the game. Oh and don't get the wrong idea we only took some pictures with the sailors :)

A night to remember

After a long week of trying to recover from my sickness I needed a much deserved night out. I was super excited to go to Downtown Philly and meet up with one of my best friends from college and a few of my Sonic travel buddies. My friend lives in Manuok right outside of downtown Philly. Of course, I'm in love with Manuok because of the COBBLE STONE streets. :) We walked down to his local hangout; a cute little bar with amazing food. I had the most delicious Tuna Tartar salad and a local Philly draft beer and began to unwind. We then went to a friend's Birthday Party Downtown, where I also was able to connect with my ladies. Overall I laughed til I cried and cringed when the alarm clock went off at 4:30am for work the next day. But it was well worth it. Saturday came too soon enough! Before my two asinine flights home I went to meet Amy for a Philly Cheese-steak, I had to do it...it was chicken of course and boy was it worth the calories!

Philly Philly...

May 25, 2010 (Sorry for the delay followers! This Blogger was not only up in the air but under the weather!)

So you'd think I would just get in the car and drive from CT to PA. No, that would be way too easy. Thanks Jenny Craig :) Finally all the airplane air has caught up with me and I am sick, and not only am I sick but I have TWO flights to Philly. I had to fly to Pittsburgh then back to Philly. So I am sitting in the airport bar in Pittsburgh and I think to myself what happened to schmoozing at the bar?  Meeting your soul mate ain't going to happen while sitting at an airport bar. SEVEN out of NINE people were either texting, talking or emailing on their cell phones, blackberries, PDAS, even laptops. One guy literally pulled out his headphones and tuned everyone out while listening to his IPOD. Really People? Have we not heard of socializing without surfing the net or usage of technology anymore? I mean I know I'm not one to talk. I have two cell phones in hand almost 75% of the time, but I still like to meet new people..and I mean face to face not on Facebook! So I landed in Philadelphia and drove downtown. I took some pictures quickly and then drove to my hotel in West Chester. So when I finally reached my destination I was not feeling so hot. The hotel had an issue with my direct bill soafter 30 minutes of phone calls I was finally ready to go up to my room. One problem; the elevator was Out of Order and I was in room 421 on the 4th floor. Let's just say I don't pack light and I had to drag my 47 lb suitcase up the stairwell. The bed never looked so good this night....Oh and for the record, my bed at the Hampton Inn Suites was the most comfortable bed I have ever laid in EVER! 

Twilight Zone aka Dayton, OH

So all week I have been feeling under the weather not sure if it's the pollen in Cincinnati or the plane air is finally getting to me. But I wasn't going to let that stop my explorations. I had to meet one of my travel road-dogs, Amy. So I drove to Dayton and we ventured to downtown. At first it wasn't looking too promising. I mean Dayton is no Kalamazoo. :) We stumbled upon a cute little area called the Oregon District. What caught my eye was the cobblestone streets.They always remind me of Old Montreal, one of my favorite places to go. Let's just say it was a very eccentric, hippy and multi-cultured area and NO Old Montreal. We felt as though we were in the Twilight Zone. Onlookers knew were tourists, let's just say I was the only "female" with pink pumps around. Head shops were abundant in this area.We ate at Side-Bar. The menu included some average Tapas but it is a cocktail connoisseur's dream. The cocktail menu was assembled with the help of Chicago mixologist Michael Rubel, fancy shamcy this suave bar was. Jessica our bartender was more then accommodating. We crossed the street to the German bar and listened to the bartender's sob story, but hey check out the outfit she has to wear to work, I would probably be miserable too. We randomly stumbled into the minor league field of the Dayton Dragons took some pics caught an inning or two and that about sums up Dayton, OH. Nope not on my list of relocation spots.

Well despite this Centre having ONLY three employees, we had some help from the outside and we all worked together for a smooth transition into SONIC. These ladies worked their butts off and were successful in having the largest deposit in the market on Go-Live day. YOU ROCK Tri-County! Lately you have been seeing pictures of the teams with spring/pastel shirts, but this time the dress code included Black shirts and Jeans. The theme was "Death to ICAN". ICAN is our old computer system, so we said Adios ICAN in Cincinnati. I was also happy to say Adios to my rent-a car this week. Comments included; Marshmallow, The Michelin Man, Casper, Ghost Busters. Over all this car is U-GLY with a capital U. Sorry If you own a Chevy HRR but I'm not a fan...

Oh and for the record everyday I would pass the Crowne Plaza with CoCo Key Resort. Blue water-slides literately are attached to the side of the building. Hmm, nope I stayed at the Country Inns & Suites. 
I think Jenny needs to put me up at the Crowne :)
