Have you ever been to a place like this? The picturesque mountain tops of Whistler, the market place on Granville Island, palm trees along the water and the multi-million dollar skyscrapers amongst the city. These are just a few of the attractions that allow me to define Vancouver in one word; BREATHTAKING. The day couldn't have been more perfect, well unless my entire family was with me. The weather forecast had called for rain. Yet, it turned out to be the most amazing sunshiny day. It took me a little over two hours to cross the border from Washington to Canada. No, I didn't belt out "Oh Canada" when I crossed, Mom. But I will admit I hummed it a bit. I met up with my step-sister, Jen who I hadn't seen in years. We walked through the market, picked up a coffee and the water taxi and strolled along the water and caught up on our lives. We walked by the Canucks Arena and after our touristy shopping and photo sessions, we stopped in for a cocktail and an appetizer at Chill Winston.(www.chillwinstonca.com/) The drink we ordered was called "The Believer" which had fresh cucumber and may I say, it was to die for. Along with the decedent food to follow we had a wonderful visit. We left so I could meet up with Michael, my step-brother and his lovely lady, Steph. We all took the water taxi back over to Granville Island. I said my goodbyes to Jen and was thrilled I had the opportunity to catch-up after all these years. Mike, Steph and I caught up over Maple-Creme beer and sushi for me. Being around Michael reminded me of his father so much, which means this included lots of laughs. I wish I lived closer to all three of them because I left knowing it may be years until our paths cross again. Well, unless I use some of these frequent-flyer miles I am racking up. Vancouver would be high on my list to travel back to. Yes, your right, Mom. You've been telling me that for years. I drove back to Washington with a smile on my face and a Starbucks in my hand. I was about to pull an all-nighter in order to catch my 6am flight. Hey, don't judge me the Seattleites have perused me into some type of caffeine addiction.
